Quick Summary (a.k.a. “The Short Scroll”)

Before you dive into the full Terms of Service, here’s the important stuff in plain Common Tongue:

  1. You can pay monthly or yearly. Cancel anytime at the end of your paid period — no hidden traps.
  2. Yearly plans come with a 20% discount, but if you cancel early, we’ll recalculate based on monthly prices.
  3. Don’t be naughty. No illegal uploads, no scripts to bypass Idle Shutdown, and no non-Foundry plugins.
  4. We aim for 99.9% uptime, but even wizards drop a spell sometimes — make your own backups!
  5. Dutch law applies. Any disputes go before a Dutch judge (we’ll bring the stroopwafels).

Welcome, brave adventurer! These Terms of Service explain the rules for using our Foundry VTT hosting.
By using our service, you agree to these terms — so grab your +1 Reading Glasses and let’s begin.

1. Who We Are

Our hosting is provided by Monkey Ventures B.V.

We’re a small team of DMs, tech nerds, and caffeine-powered humans running servers for your epic stories.

Dutch law applies to these terms. Any legal disputes will go before a Dutch judge, unless the law says otherwise.

2. Subscriptions & Payments

You can choose to pay monthly or yearly — whatever fits your campaign schedule.

  • Monthly subscriptions: You can cancel anytime, and your plan will end after the current paid month.
  • Yearly subscriptions: You can cancel after the first year, at the end of any following month.
    If you cancel before the full year is over, we’ll remove the 20% yearly discount and recalculate your costs as if you had paid monthly. Any leftover funds will be refunded.

We currently accept payments through SEPA Direct Debit and Credit Card.

Payment disputes

  • Filing a false SEPA “Melding Onterechte Incasso” (MOI) will earn you a €65 fine.
  • Filing a false Credit Card “Unauthorized Charge” report will earn you a €35 fine.

Be honest — we promise we are too.

3. Price Changes

We may update our prices up to twice per year.
We’ll always tell you at least 1 month in advance, and new prices will apply to the next invoice after that month.
No sudden ambushes here.

4. Fair Use & Server Rules

You’re renting a piece of magical infrastructure — treat it kindly.

Please don’t:

  • Abuse or bypass our Idle Shutdown feature (no scripts or sneaky tricks to keep it awake forever).
  • Use any plugins or tools that mine crypto, host unrelated services, or eat up resources that aren’t for Foundry VTT.
  • Upload or share materials from illegal sources (maps, modules, or anything else).
  • Host anything illegal or dangerous — we follow standard Notice & Takedown procedures if we get reports.
  • Share your account outside your own gaming group.

If we find serious misuse, we may warn, suspend, or end your account. Don’t make us roll for initiative.

5. Content & Responsibility

You are the Dungeon Master of your own data.
That means you’re responsible for what you upload, host, and share.
If you use copyrighted maps, music, or assets, make sure you have permission.
We’re not responsible for copyright complaints caused by what you upload.

6. Uptime, Backups & Data

We aim for 99.9% uptime — the dice rarely roll a natural 1, but it can happen.
We’ll do our best to keep your world running smoothly, but small interruptions may occur.

If your plan includes backups, you have to click the button to create the backup. We suggest you do this on a regular basis. You wouldn’t go into a dungeon without a healing potion — treat your campaign data the same way.

7. Canceling Your Account

You can cancel your subscription anytime through our dashboard.
Your server will stay online until the end of your current paid term.
After that, we’ll remove your instance and data (unless legally required to keep some info for billing or tax reasons).

8. Modifications to These Terms

We might update these Terms from time to time.
If we make big changes, we’ll announce them — no stealth patches here.
By continuing to use our service, you accept the new version.

9. Liability & Disclaimer

We’ll do our absolute best to keep your worlds safe and your dice rolling.
But we can’t be held responsible for:

  • Lost campaign files, data, or worlds
  • Players rage-quitting
  • Accidental TPKs caused by power outages or server downtime

Our service is provided “as is” — meaning we give you the tools, but the story (and the responsibility) is yours.

10. The Short Version (TL;DR)

  • You pay monthly or yearly — cancel anytime at the end of your paid period.
  • No refunds for half-used months.
  • Don’t cheat our systems or host illegal stuff.
  • We may change prices twice per year (with notice).
  • We aim for 99.9% uptime, but magic sometimes misfires.
  • Be kind, be fair, and don’t be “that player.”

We built this hosting because we love Foundry VTT and good storytelling.
We’ll do our best to keep your worlds alive and your players amazed — and we hope you’ll help us keep things fair and fun.
